NBA 2019 Playoffs - Round 1

NBA 2019 Playoffs - Round 1
by Alex "Moose" Strizak & Ben Huff

Each round, you're going to get the predictions of both Ben and myself. Like always, my predictions will be a little more out there and you can send your hate mail to moosesmulligans@gmail.com

You can also use that e-mail to buy the official mug or t-shirt of the show... Or do both!

Western Conference
#1 Golden State Warriors vs #8 Los Angeles Clippers
Moose: Warriors 4-0 - Do I really need to go into detail on this? The Clippers first half magic ran out when... well, when the first half ended! Warriors are the best NBA team ever assembled so barring a super cold shooting night, you should bring your brooms.

Ben: Warriors 4-0 - Clippers surprised me this year, not many teams could make the playoffs after trading their best player. Just not enough.
#2 Denver Nuggets vs #7 San Antonio Spurs
Moose: Spurs 4-3 - I believe in Popovich and I believe in DeRozen's hunger to prove the Raptors wrong... I'm going to stick my neck out here and pick the team with the better coaching AND Jokic is still getting back from an injury. Give me the upset.

Ben: Nuggets 4-2 - Another team that surprised me in making the playoffs and they will make this series interesting, but the Nuggets are the better team.
#3 Portland Trail Blazers vs #6 Oklahoma City Thunder
Moose: Trail Blazers 4-2 - Well, someone has to get the playoff monkey off their back in this series. I'll take Lillard, he's secretly a top-10 player in the league and this series will show that it's not a secret.

Ben: Thunder 4-2 - I can't remember the last time the Trailblazers really made me think they were true contenders. With Russ still racking up triple doubles like they are candy and a two-way, MVP caliber Paul George, OKC takes this series.

#4 Houston Rockets vs #5 Utah Jazz
Moose: Jazz 4-3 - Yep. I'm going with the team that has WAY more depth because I'm betting on this being a long series. Chris Paul doesn't look the same, and Donovan Mitchell is ready to show us what he can do in the playoffs.

Ben: Rockets 4-1 - This one hurts because I love the Jazz but the Rockets are hot. Not many teams can stop the Harden, Paul, Capela trio. The Rockets also have the most underrated mid-season pick up with the Manimal.
Eastern Conference
#1 Milwaukee Bucks vs #8 Detroit Pistons
Moose: Bucks 4-0 - This first round for a top seed in the Eastern Conference is a joke. Milwaukee should crush a Detroit team that has struggled to click all year.

Ben: Bucks 4-0 - Even with injuries to Snell, Mirotic, and Brogdon, the Bucks will have the best player on the planet. Yep, I said it...
#2 Toronto Raptors vs #7 Orlando Magic
Moose: Raptors 4-0 - Thank u, next.

Ben: Raptors 4-0 - Raptors are the better team even though I have been hurt by this team repeatedly.
#3 Philadelphia 76ers vs #6 Brooklyn Nets
Moose: 76ers 4-2 - I'm giving Brooklyn two home games here because they've been solid in their own building all year. Philly has the depth to get through this round, but if I have doubts about them against Brooklyn, then I'll have serious doubts in the next round.

Ben: 76ers 4-1 - Seeing Russell as an All-Star hurt. He's playing well and I love Spencer Dinwiddie but Embiid is one of the best centers in the game, if not the best. Ben Simmons will be the X-factor though with this series.
#4 Boston Celtics vs #5 Indiana Pacers
Moose: Celtics 4-1 - I wish Oladipo was healthy. It would have made this a good series. But "what if" doesn't count in sports. Boston in 5. Stay tuned for more from Boston...

Ben: Celtics 4-2 - I would have picked the Pacers to win this series if Oladipo was healthy because Celtics have not reassured me that they are the team everyone says they are... *cough* *cough* Strizak...
