The Eye of the Tiger

The Eye of the Tiger
By Alex Strizak (Host of Moose's Mulligans)
With both The Masters and the NFL Draft coming up, I've received a lot of questions on Tiger Woods and the New England Patriots.
But why are they getting the most questions asked about? Why are they the ones on everyone else's mind?...
Success will do that to you... Especially when you have been as successful as they have been AND for how long they have had success.
The Masters
Now, before you all start yelling at me "Tiger has been terrible for multiple years now!" That may be true... But even the slightest sign of Tiger playing golf like he used to had you all wound up tighter than a two dollar watch. Twitter was exploding when Tiger was just off the lead, not even in the lead.
It's because his success was that good. He was so good, that even the thought of someone being that good again ruffles feathers. We expected Tiger Woods to be immortal and win 20+ Majors throughout his career and when he fell off the leaderboard we buried him for it... I'm guilty of this as well, in that we took his greatness for granted.
Now, even a glimpse of "Old Tiger" gets us so excited that we go running back to the TV to watch golf for the first time in a long time. Hell, the first day of the tournament on The Masters websitefront page was a link titled "Watch Tiger's First Round LIVE"

Wow.

I don't even care how Tiger does at The Masters, because he has already shown that he is still the biggest face in golf today.
If he wins, Twitter will BREAK. But that's not the point of this discussion...
The point is that Tiger Woods has a gameplan that no one else could execute or keep up with for all those years he dominated the sport. I've been saying it a lot, but we need to appreciate greatness in sports while we have it... So enjoy watching Tiger Woods and don't expect anything like what we saw in 1997... But just enjoy watching a golf legend finding his footing once again on the course...

2018 NFL Draft
The Patriots are already the winners of the draft, and I know me saying that is going to piss most of you off...
But hopefully not as many as before because you read the article about why we shouldn't hate the Patriots or Tom Brady which can be found right here
It's getting ridiculous how good the Patriots are at this Draft thing...
Getting Tom Brady at #199 pick overall may never be topped (I always say never is a long time) but they've made some good moves once again.
Last year, the Patriots traded the #32 and a 3rd rounder to New Orleans for Brandin Cooks. They got great production on a very payable rookie contract and THEN the Patriots trade Cooks to the Rams  for the #23 pick and a 6th rounder... So, before they have to pay Cooks a big contract, they get his production for a year that left them one win short of a championship AND they get a higher first round pick this year... That's nicely done...
And the Patriots don't waste their picks. They are VERY VERY VERY good at drafting people that fit and can thrive in their system. They're also very good at acquiring draft picks to take the players they think will fit.
The Patriots have two 1st round picks, two second round picks, a third rounder, two 6th rounders, and a 7th... That's some good stuff right there...
They have a plan and everyone on the team has a job to get done. If everyone does their job, then they have followed their plan and'll usually be in a good position to win a football game.

This is where I'll start to throw some shade.
The New York Giants should be paying attention to what's going on. Because they haven't paid OBJ or traded OBJ so I'm a little confused...
Either you pay the man right away and show how is a key piece of the franchise or you trade him for young talent or draft picks or both... But so far they've done nothing!

From what I heard, Cleveland (Who clearly have been paying attention to the Pats strategy) offered them the #4 overall pick and a 2nd rounder for the star receiver. That is the absolute perfect deal if the Giants are looking to unload him. In case the Giants front office didn't know, Eli Manning is getting older.
Hence the need for a young quarter back. Hence the need for the #4 overall pick. Now I know the Giants have the #2 pick, but hear me out.
Wouldn't Josh Allen be an awesome fit? I've been preaching to the Browns to take Allen and let Tyrod Taylor serve as the bridge while Allen develops. But the Giants sure could use his talents and let Eli Manning serve as the bridge.
Yes, the Giants do have the #2 selection. But getting two awesome selections at the top of the draft is how you turn around a franchise in football (which can happen very quickly compared to other sports). Take Saquon Barkley to run behind Josh Allen, or Quenton Nelson to protect Allen on the O-line...
It's hard to give up a superstar like Odell, but if you're not willing to pay him THIS IS THE WAY YOU HAVE TO GO!
Just ask the Baltimore Orioles about that, as they are still too stubborn to trade Zach Britton or Manny Machado and are now rotting from the inside (Which you can read about in my MLB Preview right here)

Either way, I'm super excited to see this draft because there are 100 different ways it can go. My Browns have a lot on the line after their awesome picks last year, and New York fans will be anxiously watching the Giants picks this year after a horrific showing last year.
The only thing that's for certain, I'll be watching what the Patriots are doing on Draft Day and taking detailed notes on it like I've been doing for a long time now...
