MLB Power Rankings: April 24

MLB Power Rankings: April 24
It was an exciting week in baseball with a lot of shifting in the lower half of the Top 10.
So let's get to it!
Last Week Top 10:
1. Boston Red Sox
2. Houston Astros
3. Arizona Diamondbacks
4. Los Angeles Angels
5. New York Yankees
6. Cleveland Indians
7. Washington Nationals
8. Chicago Cubs
9. New York Mets
10. Pittsburgh Pirates

New Top 10:
1. Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox had an impressive sweep of the Angels to add on to their historical start. Then, they made history in a different fashion getting No-Hit by Sean Manaea... They've lost two in a row and there's no need to panic. But they do have a big series coming up against Toronto.
2. Houston Astros
They're back atop the AL West by half a game over the Angels. They do have a big series against the Angels in which they lost the first game of the series to... Houston could get a nice series win still and set them up nicely to go on a little run here.
3. Arizona Diamondbacks
They're still finding ways to win games. Yes, the Dodgers are leaking back into the picture. But the Diamondbacks still look like a very solid team from top to bottom and I'm going to keep them up here until they prove to me otherwise.
4. New York Yankees
They're heating up. Putting up runs like there's no tomorrow and they're getting quality starts from everyone but Sonny Gray (who has time to figure it out still before I'd start to hit the panic button). Now that both Andujar and Torres are up with the big club AND Greg Bird and Brandon Drury working there way back, we're about to see what the Yankees are really made of.
5. Los Angeles Angels
They had a tough series against the Red Sox. But one tough series doesn't mean the end of a season. They did a good job pitching a shutout win against the Astros and if they can win this series against them, well then they're set up nicely going forward.
6. Cleveland Indians
Don't look now, but the Indians have won 3 in a row... It may not sound like a lot, but this team needed some positivity rolling through. In fact, the whole AL Central hasn't had much positivity... With the Twins scuffling right now, the Indians might walk right into the playoffs.
7. Los Angeles Dodgers
There they are (well except for Jansen). Kershaw looks like an ace. The lineup is starting to heat up. Aside from the struggles of Kenley Jansen, this team is starting to look like a playoff team once again. They are an older team, so it'll be interesting to see how healthy and how productive they can stay.
8. Philadelphia Phillies
They're hot right now... and the Nationals aren't which is why the Phillies take their spot in the Top 10 this week. This team is consistently attacking without much flare, but they are doing what is necessary to win ball games. If this consistency keeps up and Rhys Hoskins keeps playing like the star he is becoming, the NL East will be anyone's game.
9. St. Louis Cardinals
Good for this team. They are starting to get on a roll and it's very apparent they are competing for the NL Central. Carlos Martinez and Yadi Molina seem to be working well together and Molina is having a great start at the plate. Their lineup is making up for their lackluster defense, but we'll see how long that lasts... But I do think this is a dangerous team.
10. New York Mets
Hanging on by a thread... They're 5-5 in their last 10 games and the engine is starting to make some funny noises. Not only were they losses, they were series losses to the Nationals and Braves which could prove to be costly in a tough NL East division. Going to St. Louis to face a hot Red Birds team right now is not ideal... By the way Matt Harvey got moved to the bullpen...

The Rest of the Pack
11. Washington Nationals*
*Just like last week with the Dodgers, I think this team is too good to stay out of the Top 10 for too long*
